Also managed to buy some beautiful fabric... He he

Bought some kaffe fassett and Michael miller fabric... For some new projects.... And

My new applique butterfly quilt

From feedback when I was at the Canberra craft show early in August, I had a number of requests to make a butterfly quilt. Well I have had the butterflies drawn for quite some time, just working out how to put them on a quilt.

I have even made one of my butterfly patterns for cushions for my daughter and some of her friends.

Anywho, I have finally designed the background and made the first butterfly. I am going to use a selection of 1930's fabric. I am a little excited!!! Just love this process.

A small section of the background.

My 1930's fabric for the butterflies. Hope you will like it.

It's been a year!

It's been a year since I have started my pattern design business of " passionately sewn ". It was this time last year when my great friend Val of My Patch fabrics in Milton took My Owl quilt to the Mad Quilters Gathering in Penrith.

She's there again this year and here's a pic of her stand. My quilts are hanging on  the wall. The Kimono Girls and In The Wild quilt are mine! It's still so exciting. Just love designing.

Button deer wall hanging

I like making projects for home. And I do love deer silhouettes. So here's my version of a button deer wall hanging. Most of these are glued on card and framed. But I hand sewed about 200 vintage buttons on fabric.  Mmm I quite like how it worked out.

Chelsey's Birthday Present

Had to make another early birthday present as we have gone away camping.

So here it is, a my little messenger bag for my beautiful niece Chelsey. She specifically asked for a purple bag, so my beautiful daughter Miss J chose the fabric for the bag.

Let me tell you, she just loved it!!!

Vanessa's IPad bag

We have gone away camping for a couple of months. So before I left I had a few weeks of furious sewing for birthday's, new Passionately Sewn patterns and things that were on my to do list. Yes I am a fan of lists.
So my sister in law wanted a bag to fit her iPad, some books and other things. And she wanted the colour purple.

How hard is it to find really nice, grown up purple fabric? Let me know if you have found some!

So using my own iPad, to measure the size, decided that a full zipper internal pocket would be the go. Plus another small zipped pocket on the other side. Vanessa's other request was cane handles.

So I finally decided to use batik fabric in stripes. My bag has a side and bottom gusset as well...

Here it is, and she loves it. I've decided it will be a Passionately Sewn pattern, but that will have to wait until I'm home.

Hope you like it!!

New cushion pattern - my flower petal cushion

Here's a pic of my new flower petal cushion. I had fun making this one, it has lots of individually made petals, but don't let that stop you.... It's super easy. Whilst I made this one in all kaffe fassett material it would look fantastic made of scraps. I will definitely be making a scrappy one... Here's the link to my website if you would like yo purchase the pattern

Raffle quilt for hockey

I have played hockey for many years and I was asked to make a quilt to raffle. So here it is, my true love knot. I used a jelly roll ( Moda Spring House) for the colour and a cream tone on tone for the knot. I then bought some fabric from the same Moda Collection for the border. I did an all over pattern for the quilting of loops and double loops. The raffle was yesterday and surprise surprise I was sewing the binding on Friday afternoon. But I do like the fresh colours!! What so you think?

Quilting my "in the wild" quilt

This will be one of my new pattern release quilts... Can you guess what might be on it??

Anyway today I am finally quilting it. I am really trying to extend my quilting designs, so I am trying some different patterns.
Angela Walters has a book out called "free motion quilting" and it is great.

So today I am trying an all over leaf pattern from her book. I am pretty happy with it! What do you think??

Nana's 70th birthday cushion part 1

Last year I made my beautiful mum a Bargello quilt for her birthday, which was white to gold to black in oriental fabrics.

So on Wednesday the 8th of may my mum is 70!!! Not sure where the time has gone. So, my daughter has been learning to sew, so this afternoon she is sewing the left over strips, from the bargello quilt together and we are making two matching cushions.

Where has the time gone ?????

I am not sure where the time has gone and I do apologise for not writing on my blog for ... mmmmm... I hate to say it..... 3 months..... but here goes... I am on the wagon again.... ha ha..

To say that it has been a busy four months is an understatement.... Alot has happened on the home front..... A new pool, with lots of landscaping done with a new pergola and a mud brick pizza oven..... And let me tell you the pizza oven was my beautiful husbands idea..... and the whole family made mud bricks... who knew he was crafty !!!!!! Anyway, apparently the first pizza will be cooked tomorrow night.... woo hoo...

I am also the owner of a new horse.... he is just gorgeous, his name is Ben as in "Big Ben" and he is the sweetest horse... apart from our other pony, Red, who is my daughters.... Now there is another story of why there has been no blogging, Red had some major eye issues, which saw us going to the Vets, twice weekly, and also to Sydney University Vet Hospital.  Thank goodness he looks like he is on the road to recovery.

But good news, I have been doing some designing and sewing.... I will have a new quilt out within the month.... I hope you will "go Wild" about it..... I love it and I hope you will too.

cheers

Kids workshop - notebook cover

Who would think that I would be running school holiday workshops for kids??? Well with working at My Patch in Milton I have been running them. And I just wanted to share with you what the girls have made. A little background about the class, I have them for four hours and we sew something.
For this workshop we made notebook covers , to fit an A5 notebook. I had 7 girls in the workshop and they were aged between 7 and 12, some had used a sewing machine and some had not... And here is the result. Let me tell you I was a little chuffed with the result.
